Education, A.A.
The AA in Education program helps ECE professionals gain teacher certification and smoothly transition to a BA program. It also partners with high schools to recruit future ECE teachers, allowing students to earn credits towards a CDA and the AA degree.
Program Goals
Students who complete this program will be able to:
- Critically reflect on social and cultural aspects of education, demonstrating a process of reflection that links to personal decision making
- Analyze the interplay between the planning of a lesson, the execution of that lesson and the classroom environment in which that lesson takes place.
- Utilize knowledge about the range of development including specific learning and development needs.
- Know and understand the characteristics and diversity of children’s families and the communities in which they live and identify ways to involve families and communities in all aspects of children’s development and learning
Program Details
This AA in Education program is part of a multifaceted approach to helping ECE workforce professionals attain knowledge, skills and credentials required for teacher certification. Graduates will be able to seamlessly transition to our BA teacher certification program. They can complete both programs while continuing to work in early childhood centers. In addition, we are currently working on initiatives through partnerships with local high schools designed to recruit and begin the educative process of future ECE teachers. These students will have the ability to apply classes that they take while in high school towards a CDA, can gain employment in an early childhood center upon graduation, and may potentially apply courses taken through dual enrollment towards this AA program.
